This is a generative self-playing modular setup driven mainly by the Pioneer Toraiz Squid. The goal was to make a generative ambient soundscape using short random sequences that are constantly changing, creating complex harmonies. The overall sound evolves with simple manual tweaks, it never repeats exactly the same way.
The track makes heavy use of the probability and random note functions of the Squid sequencer. The Elektron Octatrack is playing some heavily mangled and effected field recordings. The Moog DFAM is playing a slow subtle pulse. The sequencers are not really synced that tightly, just set to 60bpm. It’s not really a jam session as all I did was set things going and tweak the filters and delays.
Modules in use:
- Moog DFAM
- Mutable Instruments Rings
- Monsoon (MI Clouds clone)
- Mutable instruments tides LFO
- Ornament and Crime as 4x LFO
- Make Noise Telharmonic
- Make Noise MMG Filter
- Make Noise Erbe Verb
- Roland Demora Delay
- Lexicon MX200 rack FX for even more delay and reverb
